The problem
Protego's site ran on Airtable, which rate-limited at five requests a second, had no search, and stored media as attachments. The team needed to edit services, testimonials, gallery media and enquiries themselves, with the site fast and indexable.
How it works
- 01Visitors browse services, industries, gallery and testimonials, and submit enquiries
- 02Staff sign in to manage services, testimonials, gallery media, industries and branding
- 03Enquiries arrive with status tracking: new, in progress, resolved
AI functionality
A third-party chat widget on the client's site; not built by TEFY.
Engineering decisions
- Migrated the data model from Airtable to Postgres with full-text search and indexes
- Media moved to object storage with signed uploads
- Row level security: public read on published content, no public read on enquiries, admin-only on branding and users
- Database-backed admin authentication with hashed passwords and a login rate limiter
- Organization and WebSite structured data, per-page metadata and a cookie consent banner
Outcomes
The migration removed the Airtable rate limit and added search. Traffic and enquiry figures are the client's and are not published here.
